Long-Term Commitment Secures McLaren Lineup
Reigning Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris has signed a multi-year contract extension with McLaren, securing his seat at the Woking-based outfit until at least the end of the 2030 season. The deal also includes options to extend beyond that point.
Norris' previous agreement, signed prior to 2024, ran through the conclusion of the 2027 campaign. The new terms guarantee at least four additional seasons for the 26-year-old Briton, who captured his maiden drivers' title in 2025 to become McLaren's first champion since Lewis Hamilton in 2008.
Norris and McLaren Cement Title Ambitions
Norris entered Formula 1 with McLaren in 2019 and holds the franchise record for starts with 163 Grands Prix, having surpassed David Coulthard's tally of 150 at the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix. Alongside teammate Oscar Piastri—who is under contract through at least 2028—Norris helped McLaren capture the 2024 constructors' championship, ending a 26-year drought.
"McLaren is my home, and I'm very pleased to be signing a new contract to keep me with the team until at least 2030," Norris said. "When I started this journey nine years ago, I was clear about the goals I wanted to achieve: to get McLaren back to the front and to win championships. We've achieved that goal, but we want more."
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella emphasized that the long-term deal guarantees vital continuity as the grid stabilizes under current regulations. The announcement also puts an end to any remaining driver market movement among the frontrunners, coming shortly after Max Verstappen committed to Red Bull through 2030.

The contract extension follows Norris' recent victory at the Dutch Grand Prix, marking his second consecutive win and the 13th Grand Prix triumph of his career. Despite McLaren going winless across the opening 10 rounds of the season, Norris has reduced his deficit in the standings.
