Several teams have locked in their driver pairings for the coming years:
- McLaren: Reigning world champion Lando Norris is signed through 2027, while Oscar Piastri is secured until the end of 2028.
- Red Bull: Max Verstappen holds a contract through 2028, though the agreement is understood to include performance-related exit clauses.
- Ferrari: Charles Leclerc is confirmed through 2028. Lewis Hamilton is signed through 2027, with a unilateral option to extend his stay into 2028.
- Alpine: Pierre Gasly has committed to the team through 2028.
Key Drivers Facing 2027 Decisions
A large segment of the grid is currently signed only through the end of the 2026 season. Performance in the second half of this year will be critical for these drivers to secure extensions or attract interest from other teams:
- Mercedes: George Russell is understood to be under contract through 2027, while Kimi Antonelli’s status for 2026 is confirmed, with expectations of a longer-term future within the team.
- Williams: Both Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz are currently confirmed only through 2026, though Sainz holds options to extend his stay.
- Racing Bulls: Liam Lawson and rookie Arvid Lindblad are both in contract years, with their futures likely dependent on their relative performance against one another.
- Aston Martin: Both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are confirmed through 2026. Alonso’s future remains a point of interest given his age and the team's current competitive standing.
- Haas: Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon are both unconfirmed for 2027, setting up a high-stakes internal battle for the remainder of the season.
- Audi: Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto are currently slated through 2026.
